A few weeks ago the European Parliament adopted a directive on „protecting persons who engage in public participation from manifestly unfounded or abusive court proveedings” („strategic lawsuits against public participation” - SLAPP).
- According to polls, a majority of Poles support an increased legal availability of prenatal killing than the public has access to at present. This support fluctuates, however, depending on how a poll’s questions are formulated.
- A new international treaty, the Pact for the Right to Development, is being drafted at the UN Human Rights Council Working Group.
- The basic premise of the Pact is a formal commitment by states to engage in the construction of universal and possibly widespread prosperity.
Civil liberties
Through the proposed amendments to the European Union treaties, the unelected European Commission aims to "build a superstate that will be highly centralized in the economic, military, political, and social areas". If this plan succeeds, it will create a strong center of power centered on Germany. The latter will be able to impose important policies against the will of a majority of the Member States, disregarding their security and economic interests as well as their social, legal, national, and cultural identity.
