· The European Court of Human Rights ruled that the coercion of a Russian mother to have an abortion constituted "an outrageous case of inhuman and degrading treatment," and awarded her 19,500 euros in compensation (about 91,000 zlotys).

· The 20-year-old girl was forcibly taken to the hospital and forced to have an abortion by her parents, who disapproved of her relationship with the man who fathered the child.

• The Strasbourg Court receives many complaints about the ban on eugenic abortion in Poland.

• According to the applicants, the inability to undergo a eugenic abortion violates their right to privacy and the prohibition of torture.

• The vast majority of complaints come from women who are not even pregnant.

· Poland complies with the decision of the European Court of Human Rights to implement interim measures. Poland has prepared assistance in kind for foreigners in the territory of Belarus near the border with Poland and for a long time has been making efforts to deliver it to foreigners by legal means, which, however, has been prevented by Belarus.

● Three same-sex couples sued Russia before the European Court of Human Rights, demanding almost EUR 80,000 in compensation for ‘harm and expenses’ incurred as a result of their inability to marry.

● The ECtHR ruled that Russia had violated their right to respect for private and family life, but refused to award the amount requested.

• The ECHR issued a further three judgments in which is directly referred to the ‘amicus curiae’ opinions sent by the Institute. 

● The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has formally notified the Polish government that twelve complaints have been filed against the ban on eugenic abortion in Poland.

● On October 22, 2020, the Polish Constitutional Tribunal ruled that the possibility of a eugenic abortion is inconsistent with the right of every human being to life.
